Great minds think alike.
I love having to say this, and I love it when someone else says it. Because we instantly connect and it’s like a sign you’re on the right path. 9/10 times we connect because we agree on a way of life or a method to get something done and 9/10 it’s because we share a creative solution to the problem.
The overarching factor here is the mindset.
I’m sure you’d agree with me if I state that minimalists also have a certain ‘overarching’ mindset in their lifestyle. A mindset that motivates them to weigh out the wants from the needs, a mindset that distinguishes the treasure from the garbage and a mindset that knows how to replace instead of adding.
Life is at its peak when we rejoice in it. Celebrating how we are continuously on a journey to develop as a person, tweaking our minds to be our best friend (cause they obviously are!) and choosing to live life as a precious gift.
And today I decided to celebrate with these words of Minimalist motivation. We obvs embrace the less is more full-heartedly, here are however some other thoughts of like-minded ones. Which one is your favorite? Or do you have another one that has to be added to this list?
p.s. So I decided to make all these unique quote-designs for this post which took like 10 times the time it took to research and write this post. But hey, I care and I like to put in that effort, I believe it will pay off haha but please do let me know, what do you think of it? Do you like my minimalistic, Mondriaan-y approach? Or do ya say Nah Loura, stick to dancing lol

1 The more you let go, the higher you rise.
On a materialistic level, I love the metaphor of a hot air balloon.
They are a literal example of how letting stuff go makes you rise, makes you float amongst the
clouds having an eagles view of your world, decluttered, spacious and organized.
On a spiritual level, however, this quote is just as spot on.
Creating awareness of your attachments and how they ‘pull you down’ is such a gift to oneself.
2 Minimalism is an appreciation of space.
Yes! I can’t describe how much I love space.
If I get any chance, I devour it. Ok, that might sound a bit harsh…
but as a dancer (of life), your space is your canvas.
Respect it, honor it, and it will do nothing less than compliment everything in it.
3 Minimalism is not a lack of something.
It’s simply the perfect amount of things.
~ Nicholas Burroughs
*smiles with utter agreement*
The words of Mr. Burroughs have been said a lot, but not enough.
I just realized that that doesn’t sound minimalistic at all, but hey you get my point right?
4 Clutter smothers. Simplicity breaths.
~ Terry Guillemets
We’ve all been in one of those stuffy antique shops, haven’t we?
Do I need to say more? No.
5 The best things in life, aren’t things.
Namaste. Amen. Hallelujah. Haribol. Aloha!!!
6 Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.
~ Leonardo Da Vinci
If Da Vinci said it, it must be true right?
And who doesn’t want to be sophisticated? Make your grandma proud yo’!
7 Edit your life frequently and ruthlessly.
It’s your masterpiece after all.
I think Da Vinci would totally agree with this one.
And so do I. All of our best and most successful works are good because of the amount of energy we put into it.
The unconditional dedication when adjusting and tweaking = it all pays off, I am certain of this.
8 Have less. Do more.
Uh-uh, this that sign you’ve been waiting for. Book that trip! Do it!
(And please leave a comment if you do so because you would MAKE my day!)
9 The less you own, the less that owns you.
What a satisfying thought.*inhales – exhales*
It makes me want to go through all my stuff again. Need or want? Need or want?
And also, is it just me or do you also feel like 10 kg just slid off your shoulders everytime you reorganize your stuff?
Another random thought, Is this what people mean when they say with love & light?
10 I make myself rich, by making my wants few.
~ Thoreau
Quality above quantity.
11 Your home is a living space, not a storage space.
Just as much as your mind is meant for heartwarming memories
and happy thoughts instead of stress and more stress.
12 Minimalism is about intentionality, not deprivation.
~ D. Stojanivic
I’m literally headbanging of agreement with this one.
Our intention is such a key factor in our lives. If there is something I wish people,
I wish them to create a crystal-clear awareness of their intention.
Oh and to blow your mind a little, did you know that in the medicine-world
intention refers to the healing process of a wound.
Let your mind process that one. Deeeeeeeeeep! Gotta love it though.
13 Minimalism, as a lifestyle, is the art of letting go.
Yes, an art. And everyone’s art is different and that’s why minimalism is so intriguing.
It’s not just about letting go, but it’s how you let go, your intention of letting go,
what it means to you to let go. It’s not a question whether you express yourself
through your minimalism but how.
14 No. Is a complete sentence. ~ Anne Lamott
Do I really want that dress? Do I need this magnet souvenir from Amsterdam?
Is the true meaning of life all about the things you possess?
15 Happiness is… decluttering.
That… easy?
16 If it doesn’t nourish your soul, don’t keep it.
I feel we should add this to the kid’s education.
It would take just one generation to eliminate all things insignificant of life.
It would be like decluttering the nation. Nomadsoulzz for president!
Lol. No, I wouldn’t manage, to sensitive for that sh*t.
17 The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it.
This is one of those reminders you just have to read every now and then and
let sink into your consciousness deeper every time. We all tend to agree on how precious life is but sometimes we
just shamelessly overlook this when we let new things into our lives.
How much love or stress does something cost?
18 Minimalism, not much to it.
hehehehe
19 Simplicity is the soul of efficiently. ~ Austin Freeman
This one is the more elaborate version of: keep it simple.
And the realization what comes with being sophisticated #davincisaiditnotme
20 The need for less often results in a life of more. ~ Brian Gardner
More sleep. More music. More tea. More books. More sunsets.
More creating. More long walks. More laughter. More hugs.
More fun. More love. More meaning. Need even more?
21 You don’t realize how much stuff you have until
you try to put in a box. ~ Allison Vesterfelt
Uhm.. ok.. freaking guilty as charged.
But boy oh boy, what an incredible way to materialistically grasp your possessions.
22 Don’t settle for basic, baby. Extraordinary is where’s it’s at.
My heart is smiling again. Adapting the minimalism lifestyle and choosing simplicity does
not let me repeat, does not make you a boring, tasteless piece of dry basic old bread.
You have the ability to be that Michelin star rated (minimalistic) award-winning delicacy.
